Liverpool forward Roberto Firmimo had a superb shot towards goal after a glorious pass from Neymar, but his effort went for a goal kick. In the fourth minute, Victor Osimhen had a chance to score after a great pass from Alex Iwobi, but he was denied by Manchester City goalie Ederson Moraes. Brazilian forward Neymar had to leave the field in the 11th minute after sustaining an injury and he was replaced by Philippe Coutinho.

Firmino got another chance to give Brazil the lead in the 28th minute, but his superb header was parried away by goalkeeper Francis Uzoho. Nigeria took the lead in the 35th minute through Joe Aribo who netted his second goal for Super Eagles and it was Moses Simon who provided the assist as the first half ended 1-1. Brazil came out aggressive in the second half, and it took them only three minutes to restore parity through Casemiro. Efforts by the South American giants to win this match were futile as it ended 1-1 between Brazil and Nigeria in Singapore.
