Beijing — Chinese youngsters in the global coronavirus epicentre of Wuhan filed back to class on Wednesday, wearing masks and walking in single file past thermal scanners. Senior school students in 121 institutions were back in front of chalkboards and digital displays for the first time since their city — the ground zero of the coronavirus pandemic — shut down in January.

"School is finally reopening!" posted one user of Weibo, China's Twitter-like short messaging platform. "This is the first time that I'm so happy to go back to school, although I have to sit a monthly examination on the 8th."

Teenagers sat at individual desks spaced 3.3 feet apart, seeing their teachers in the flesh after months of distance learning.

Wednesday's back-to-school was the latest step in a gradual normalizing of life in Wuhan and surrounding Hubei province.

In preparation for reopening, some schools spaced out their desks and organized smaller class sizes, according to local media.

Thermal scanners greeted everyone walking through school gates, and anyone with high temperature was not allowed in.

State-run China Daily said some places arranged staggered arrival times for teachers and students.

Armed police officers were seen standing guard at the entrance of Wuhan No.17 Middle School, with officers also pictured outside other schools around the province.

1. Does your current resume align with your desired career path?
2. Have you created a LinkedIn profile and online job board profiles?

If your current resume doesn’t align with your career goals, you’ll find it very difficult to test your personal brand as you market yourself on LinkedIn and job board sites like Indeed.com and Monster.com. You’ll need to rehab your resume before you start marketing yourself for your dream job.

Launch (selling)

Sell your authentic self in job interviews, networking events, meetups and conferences. When you relaunch your personal brand, you want to have top-notch networking and interview skills as you present yourself to recruiters, hiring managers and fellow professionals. The art of selling yourself requires you to become comfortable introducing your personal brand to people who can help you land the job you desire. Ask yourself two questions:

I earned two degrees while in prison, says ex-inmate

A former inmate of the Nigeria Correctional Service in Enugu State, Mr. Adenyi Theophilus, has said he earned a graduate and postgraduate degrees while in prison.

Adenyi told our correspondent in Enugu on Friday that he was sent to prison on awaiting trial in 2010 over a communal case he was not involved in but lumped in with others on a trumped-up charge.

According to him, in March 2011, the then Controller of Prisons, Mustapha Attah, informed the inmates of the approval to establish a study centre of the National Open University of Nigeria in the prison.

We were surprised because we didn’t believe that there can be a university inside the prison. The CP encouraged those with O ’level results to enrol and that prisons would pay 50 per cent of the tuition fees.

“It wasn’t easy to raise money from prison to pay for the balance of the tuition fees and buy reading materials,” Adenyi said.

The inmate, from Nkanu East in Enugu State, added that the trauma of being in prison was enough to discourage him but with perseverance and hard work, he was able to conquer.

He said, “My motivation was that my destiny was in my hands and nobody can make me be whatever I want to become tomorrow apart from God. Another motivation was the fact that my O’level result will not give me a better job when I leave prison.

“The staff of the correctional centre also helped the inmates with motivational talks especially the psychology department.”

He said in 2015, among the 25 inmates that registered, he was the only one that was able to complete his courses and graduate.

Adenyi said his plan was to graduate with the first-class grade but he was proud to finish with 2.1 in Peace, Conflict and Strategic Studies.

“The institution gave me an award with a sum of N50, 000 and that helped me to enrol for master’s immediately the same year.

“Presently I am through with master’s and on a PhD program at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka after leaving the prison,” he said.

According to him, on October 5, 2015, after five years and six months of awaiting trial, he was discharged, acquitted and not convicted.

He urged and advised inmates to enrol in the secondary and higher institution available in the centre.

“There are more to life, than smoking narcotics and exhibiting bad lifestyle because being in prison is not the end of life. I advise them to imbibe the habit of reading to acquire knowledge that will help them when they get out of prison. Today, instead of doing the wrong thing while in prison, I have written a book and three poems,” Adenyi stated.

The World University ranking was released on Wednesday, September 11th. The Times Higher Education said the latest World University Rankings 2020 sampled almost 1,400 universities across 92 countries, standing as the largest and most diverse university rankings ever to date.

The young genius is in Nigeria to build a community secondary school in Kaura local government of Kaduna state.

He will be working with the advocacy group to build a school in Kaura local government in the state. Recall that earlier reported that Beckford who was named as one of the most intelligent children in the world as he graduated from the prestigious Oxford University at age 14 was expected to visit Nigeria.

The purpose of the visit was to raise fund for the building of a school project in Kaduna state. The chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, among other Nigerians tweeted and retweeted about the expected visit of the young genius. It should be noted that the boy was diagnosed with high functioning autism, was named as one of the most intelligent children in the world.

At the age of six when most kids are still learning how to read and count, Beckford was intellectually active to attend one of the best universities in the world. It was also gathered that at the very tender time when he was just 10 months old, Beckford could already read, write and understand the alphabet. Little wonder that by the time he turned two, he could read fluently and he could speak Japanese by the age of three.

2. Try to attach your child to other kids in advance

It will be scary to go to school if your child does not know anyone in the classroom. 3. Give your child a chance to socialize
