Transfer: Mikel Obi makes a shock return to the English club, undergoes medical
Former Chelsea star, John Obi Mikel has undergone a medical at English Championship side, Middlesbrough. The Super Eagles captain is expected to sign a deal with the Championship club. SunSport reports that the 31-year-old former Chelsea midfielder, traveled from London to the north-east yesterday after agreeing to personal terms. The two-time Premier League player spent the past two years at Tianjin TEDA in the Chinese Super League. Roma and Wolfsburg also registered an interest in the Nigerian international. Mikel, however, wanted to return to England, where his wife and two young children are based. Mikel will be part of a Tony Pulis side looking to bring Premier League football back to the Riverside next season. Boro currently sits fifth in the Championship table and seven points off leaders Leeds.
