15 Best and Worst Looks From Tiwa Savage's Father's Burial (Photos)

Who did it best?

Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage sadly lost her father earlier this year in late July. The singer took to Instagram to announce the sad news and was met with support and condolences from everybody including her fans and colleagues in the industry.

Now, weeks after his passing, it's time to finally lay her dad to rest and in true Tiwa Savage form, she pulled out all the stops. One looking at the event would not on first glance know that it is a funeral. From the lavish looks to the money that was being sprayed on the dance floor, the event looked more like a wedding reception than a funeral which I'm guessing was the plan here. It was moreso a celebration of life than it was a funeral.

It was an asoebi event and so guests only had to customize the fabrics they had to their desired taste before coming. For me, asoebi events like this are a lot more interesting to judge because everybody is practically wearing the same pattern, the major difference is in how each person tailored their own to fit them.

As I always do with these things, I’ll be letting you decide who you think PASSED the assignment and who you think FAILED. When you submit your answer, you’ll immediately be able to see what everybody else submitted and together we will find out who were the best and worst looks of the evening. Are you ready to jump in and have some fun? Then let’s go!

Baker: I make N400k monthly supplying bread to bandits and was able to marry my dream woman

Baker

A bread factory owner, Hassan Magaji, has narrated how he made N400,000 a month supplying bread to bandits operating in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Hassan is part of a syndicate arrested by operatives of the FIB Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT), for allegedly supplying drugs, bread and other food items to the bandits.

The suspect admitted to making about N150,000 weekly from supplying bread to the bandits, but said his income from the venture rose sharply at a point to N70,000 a day at the time some university students were abducted in Kaduna.

Hassan who is a native of Galadimawa village, said he was finally able to marry a woman he deeply loved and had enough money to take care of his two wives and three children.

He said “I started the bakery business in 2018. I started with about N21,000 and now make about N400,000 a month. The boom in my business began when I started supplying bread to bandits.

”I normally stay close to the part of the forest where they are camped. It was during one of such movement in 2019 that I met Mohammed and three others, who told me that they would like to be buying in larger quantities.

”They started with N20,000 worth of bread and gradually increased it to N50,000 a day. After removing the cost of the ingredients, I make as much as N150,000 in a week. We had a meeting point close to their hideout in the forest, but I was not allowed to enter the bush.

”It was my workers that were arrested by the police while they were on their way to delivering bread, and they brought them to my factory. During that period (when university students in Kaduna were kidnapped), I supplied up to N70,000 worth of bread every day till recently when it dropped to about N50,000.”

Hassan, added that there was not much he had done with the money other than marrying a woman “I had always loved. And I was able to save money to take care of my two wives.”

TB Joshua’s Death: Poverty, Hardship, Uncertainty Loom for Many People

The death of TB Joshua will mean different things to different people. To some of his colleagues who do not like his brand of Christianity, his death might be a welcome development (Pastor Chris Okotie's recent statement is a classic example), to some random people, his death might mean nothing but to other people in Egbe Ikotun axis, his death is an end to their financial capabilities.

Recall that the Synagogue Church of All Nations is situated between Cele Egbe bus stop and Ikotun roundabout. Weekly, the church hosts thousands of people. These visitors also have needs. These needs are mostly provided by the people around the church. To provide these needs, the people create different businesses - all tied to the success of the church. And this way, the people (residents) earn their daily bread which they use in feeding their families. Now, following the death of the prophet, all these have crashed.

TB Joshua

Here are ways the demise will affect the people:

Artisans will greatly be affected.

Artisans will be affected? You heard it right! This might sound strange but the mechanics, vulcanisers in Synagogue area will not find it funny because, they have hundreds of church members who came from near and far, as customers. Since the death of the prophet, most of these members might not regulalrly visit the church for worship. This way, the artisans are will definetely lose these ready made customers.

Drivers & Okada riders

Some drivers and Okada riders, expecially those plying Oshodi and Cele-Express to Ikotun, will be affected by the death of TB Joshua. For these drivers and iders, Sundays are their main market days. This is when they make more money as a result of the number of commuters they convey to and from Ikotun. Some of these drivers and riders will have to find other route or sit down at home on Sundays.

Petty traders and food vendors

These are one of the biggest losers. Food is very essential and given the number of visitors to the church daily, these traders and vendors are making cool money as a result of the church. All these are likely going to change. The death of TB Joshua will likely reduce the number of visitors to the road. Reduced visitors also mean reduced sales.

Hotel

The hotel business will also take one of the biggest hit over the death of TB Joshua. Most o these teeming hotels were built because of the presence of the church. Most of them were always filled to capacity when he was around. All these will definetely change as less people will come to church daily.

The people

TB Josuha was a cheerful giver in his lifetime. All these will change. The widows, the old women, the vulnerable, the physically challenged, the area boys - will all feel the impact of his death because there might likely no more free handouts to them. Also, the residents who have also convereted their personal houses to lodging centres will feel the impact of the death.

Chelsea and Man City supporters clash in Porto as riot police threaten warring fans with batons ahead of tomorrow's Champions League final

  • Pictures show hundreds of supporters drinking and chanting in bars in the centre of the Portuguese city
  • Supporters brawled on streets of Porto last night before Man City battle Chelsea in Champions League Final
  • Footage shows two gangs face off above a Metro stop as they shouted expletives at one another last night
  • 30-strong crowd turned violent when a bar stool was hurled back and forth as local police pulled groups away

Rival gangs of English football fans clashed with riot police armed with batons on the streets of Porto today ahead of the hotly anticipated Champions League final.

Supporters of Manchester City and Chelsea fought each other and police by the Douro river in the north-west Portuguese city after a bar stool was hurled back and forth.

Armed with flags adorned with their club crests, English fans flouted social distancing as they threw punches and lit up flares in skirmishes following a day of heavy drinking.

Photos earlier in the day showed hundreds of topless supporters drinking and cheering ahead of the UEFA Champions League final at the Dragao stadium, the home ground of FC Porto.

Up to 16,500 fans will be admitted, with each side allocated 6,000 tickets - with around 2,000 going to UEFA delegates and sponsors - and the rest sold to regular punters in Portugal.

But thousands more fans who do not have tickets will also face the agony of missing the game on TV, as bars in Porto close at 10.30pm on Saturday night as per coronavirus regulations.

Last night Antonio Fonseca, chairman of the Association of Bar Keepers of Historic Porto, said he feared there would be trouble if bars and restaurants closed at that time.

He told MailOnline: 'I'm worried about this aspect - if the game goes into extra time and it has penalties like the other night it won't finish until maybe 10.45, so we face the prospect of owners asking people to leave with the match yet to finish. Who is going to be brave enough to tell these people who have been drinking all day to go?

'It raises the possibility of violence and aggression and that's why we asked the local council for an extension but so far we have heard nothing. It's not going to be easy to ask the English supporters to leave.

'This situation should have been taken care of. In the past, the Porto authorities met with us but unfortunately, they have not done so. Everything will shut at the same time which means there will be large groups on the streets and the police will have to disperse them quickly.'

-Fresh details have emerged about the operation that led to the killing of ESN top commander

- The Nigerian Army has commended the men who took part in the operation The security forces described their operation against IPOB as a success

More details have emerged about the killing of Ikonson Commander, a leader of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), a militia group linked to the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). Ikonson was identified as the vice president-designate of IPOB. Security forces said he commanded series of violent attacks on security personnel and formations in the southeast and south-south of the country.

IPOB-Commander

According to PR Nigeria, a spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima disclosed in a statement that a combined team of security forces led by troops of the army were involved in the operation that killed the militia leader.

Yerima said troops of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) trails the militants to their hideout in the early hours of Saturday 24 April 2021, following a detailed intelligence report on the location of the terrorists’ camp. The army stated the intelligence team tracked the IPOB/ESN top leader to his exact location in Awomama village and engaged the terrorists in a gun battle. The army spokesperson said:

‘’On noticing the presence of the joint operations team, IPOB/ESN terrorists brought a heavy volume of fire on the raiding team who swiftly responded and overwhelmed them with superior firepower that neutralized Ikonson and six of his top commanders. ‘’Sadly, however, a Second Lieutenant and three IRT operatives paid the supreme price in the firefight that ensued. The four officers who fought gallantly have already been evacuated to a military facility in Owerri.''

Yerima stated that 3 AK 47 riffles, a Toyota Sienna van belonging to the terrorists, and several other items of value were recovered from the group.

Legit.ng gathered that photos on the internet claimed that someone laying dead on the ground was the body of Ikonson Commander. Meanwhile, the Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, said the IPOB has placed some southeast governors under the death sentence for yet-to-be-disclosed reasons. The Punch reported that the governor, who made this known, said he is one of those under the IPOB death sentence. He noted that the issues of marginalization and inequality raised by the leader of the IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, are valid.
